We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Mental Health Medical Biller; to manage our revenue cycle for a multi-office practice, ensure accurate insurance processing, and act as a supportive advocate for our clients and clinical staff For 40 years, Aurora has been a leader in providing customized services that support individuals with disabilities, chronic mental illness, and traumatic brain injuries in residential settings. Key Responsibilities Submit clean claims: Process and submit electronic and paper insurance claims (CMS-1500) for outpatient mental health services. Denial resolution: Review daily claim rejections, manage explanation of benefits (EOBs), and appeal denied or underpaid claims. Payment reconciliation: Post insurance and client payments, manage account balances, and run aging AR collection reports. Manage authorizations: Coordinate and track prior authorization requests Client communication: Clearly communicate copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket estimates to clients with empathy and clarity. Provider Compliance: Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and data security standards for private medical records. Qualifications & Skills Required: Experience: One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 6+ months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a strong preference for mental/behavioral health billing. Technical Skills: Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms and clearinghouses. Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of mental health terminology, CPT codes (e.g., 90837, 90834), and standard ICD-10 coding. Attributes: High emotional intelligence, attention to detail, and a calm, customer-service-oriented approach when handling financial discussions with clients. Preferred: Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Coder (CMC) designation. Experience navigating public insurance programs (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare) alongside commercial panels.
