Job Title: Biomedical Scientist Contract Type: Permanent Applicants must be HCPC registered to start as a band 5 Biomedical Scientist. Main duties of the job This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Biomedical Scientist, the main purpose of this role is to provide timely and accurate results for patient treatment, monitoring, screening and therapy. The role involves working within a large team of Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, Biomedical Support Workers and medical colleagues. The Microbiology Department at UHS is excited to advertise an opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist. The department processes over 1,000,000 specimens per year. We employ almost 100 staff and provide a comprehensive 7 day service covering bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology, serology and parasitology and molecular testing. We are IBMS accredited for pre-registration training and specialist training in medical microbiology, virology and infectious science. The role involves 24/7 working on a shift pattern, including earlies, cores, lates, and night shifts Candidates must be able to work all these shifts. Weekends and bank holidays are also worked on a rotation.
