Pharmacy Technician

Job summary TASC PCN is looking to recruit an additional registered Pharmacy Technician to join our existing pharmacy team. The current team have built good working relationships between colleagues across the PCN, practices and Community Pharmacy. We welcome applications from across primary and secondary care. Full training and support will be provided. Main duties of the job The Pharmacy Technician will be working within their professional competencies as an integral part of the PCN and Practice teams to support the clinical and administrative teams in the delivery of clinical and administrative services. The postholder will work closely with patients, their carers and the health and social care professionals in the PCN and wider community teams to optimise the use of medicines. This may be through directly supporting patients to take or use their medications correctly and preparing them for a medication review or through the development and review of medicines management processes and audit. The Pharmacy Technician will support the PCN and practice clinical teams with medication queries. Working as part of the workflow teams across the PCN, the role will also involve processing clinical patient correspondence received upon discharge, enuring any relevant procedures are completed. About us TASC PCN formed in June 2019 with three like-minded practices wanting to provide joined up services for our local community. We have a diverse range of clinicians working with us to support us in our patients care. The PCN provides services to 28,000 patients across the Seaton and Axminster area in East Devon including the following practices: Townsend House Medical Practice, Seaton and Colyton Medical Practice, Axminster Medical Practice. We use SystmOne clinical system and consult with our patients using a range of methods from face to face, video, telephone and electronic consultations. We are an approved learning organisation, actively participate in research projects and have recently incorporated. Details Date posted 28 September 2026 Pay scheme Other Salary Depending on experience Contract Permanent Working pattern Part-time, Flexible working Reference number A4326-26-0000 Job locations Seaton & Colyton Medical Practice 148 Harepath Road Seaton Devon EX12 2DU United Kingdom Job description Job responsibilities Our PCN Pharmacy Technician has the following key responsibilities in supporting the delivery of health services to our patients: a) Undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use by utilising consultation skills and shared decision-making conversations with patients. b) Processing and coding clinical patient correspondence received upon discharge, ensuring any relevant procedures are completed. c) Conduct medicine optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration, support medication reviews, prescription request processes, medicines reconciliation and synchronisation. d) Promote the safe use of medicines within the repeat prescribing system, limiting waste and maximising the use of the NHS App, Electronic Prescription Service (EPS), electronic repeat dispensing (eRD) and other processes and technologies in place. e) Assist in the delivery of medicines optimisation and managment incentive schemes and patient safety audits. f) Support the safe use of high-risk medicines and the use of medicines as part of the Quality and Outcomes Framework, enhanced services and quality improvement projects. g) Support the implementation of national and local prescribing policies, guidance and protocols applicable to the Practices and PCN, including CQC quality statements that relate to medicines. h) Oversee the storage and management of prescriptions and the practice stock of personally administered items so they are stored, prescribed and claimed appropriately. i) Support initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing. j) Provide specialist expertise, when competent, to address both the public health and social care needs of patients including lifestyle advice, service information and help in tackling local health inequalities. k) Develop relationships with other Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists and members of the multi-disciplinary team to support the integration of the pharmacy team across health and socia care including primary care, community pharmacy, secondary care and mental health. l) Contribute to public health campaigns (eg flu clinics) through advice or direct care. m) Undertake any tasks consistent with the level of the post and the scope of the role, ensuring that work is delivered in a timely and effective manner. n) Participating in the management of patient complaints when requested to do so and participate in the identification of any necessary learning brough about through incidents and learning events. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent on factors such as
