Job summary Elizabeth House Medical Practice is looking for an enthusiastic, caring and reliable Healthcare Assistant with phlebotomy expereince to join our friendly and supportive practice team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant who enjoys working directly with patients and being part of a busy general practice team. The successful candidate will work alongside our GPs, Practice Nurses, Clinical Pharmacist and wider practice team to provide high-quality care to our patients. We are looking for someone who is professional, approachable, well organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience of working within general practice or another healthcare setting would be desirable. Phlebotomy experience is essential, although training and support can be provided to develop additional HCA skills and competencies. We are particularly looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well with patients and colleagues and is willing to contribute positively to the continued development of our nursing and clinical team. Main duties of the job The role will involve providing a range of Healthcare Assistant and phlebotomy services to our practice population. The main duties will include: Phlebotomy and preparation of samples for laboratory collection Blood pressure monitoring ECGs NHS and new patient health checks Urinalysis and collection of patient samples Height, weight and BMI measurements Supporting long-term condition monitoring Simple wound care and dressings, subject to competency Suture and staple removal, subject to competency 24-hour blood pressure monitoring Assisting clinicians with minor procedures and clinics where required Chaperoning patients when requested Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous patient records Maintaining clinical stock and ensuring treatment rooms and clinical areas are appropriately stocked Supporting vaccine and cold-chain monitoring where trained and appropriate Following infection prevention and control procedures Undertaking appropriate training and maintaining competencies relevant to the role Supporting the nursing and wider practice team with other appropriate clinical duties The exact duties will depend upon the successful candidate's existing experience and competencies, with opportunities to develop additional HCA skills following appropriate training and assessment.
