Job summary We are looking for an experienced Primary Care Paramedic to join our friendly and supportive clinical team at Spilsby Surgery. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to use your assessment, clinical decision-making and autonomous practice skills across a broad range of patient presentations, both within the surgery and in the community. You will be joining a practice where Paramedics are an important part of the clinical team, working closely with GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals, with regular opportunities for clinical discussion and shared learning. We are looking for someone who wants to become part of the practice, not simply fill a role. You will be encouraged to bring your own experience, ideas and interests to the team, continue to develop your career in primary care and play an active part in the ongoing development of our clinical services. Main duties of the job The Paramedic will be an integral member of our clinical team, providing assessment and care for patients presenting with both new and ongoing health concerns. A key part of the role will be helping patients access the right care at the right time. You will assess, treat and advise patients where appropriate, arrange onward referral or follow-up when needed, and work with other members of the team where a different clinical input is required. The role will also include supporting patients who are unable to attend the surgery, including home visits and working with other professionals involved in their care. You will be well supported in your day-to-day work, with dedicated clinical discussion time each day and regular multidisciplinary meetings. These provide protected opportunities to discuss cases, seek a second opinion and work together on patient care. About us Spilsby Surgery is a rural dispensing practice caring for around 7,250 patients across Spilsby and the surrounding communities. Our team includes GPs, advanced practitioners, nursing staff, dispensary, care navigation and administrative colleagues, working closely alongside each other as one team. You will use your clinical knowledge and experience to assess patients, make appropriate clinical decisions and provide treatment, advice, referral or escalation within your scope of competence. You will work autonomously while having access to the support and expertise of our GPs and wider clinical team when required. Clinical responsibilities Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Assessing patients presenting with acute illness, minor illness and other health concerns appropriate to the Paramedic role. Taking appropriate clinical histories and carrying out physical examinations. Formulating appropriate management plans based on clinical assessment. Providing treatment, advice and safety-netting to patients and carers. Recognising deterioration, red flags and situations requiring urgent intervention or escalation. Referring patients to GPs, secondary care, community services or other healthcare professionals where appropriate. Undertaking home visits for housebound patients and others who require assessment at home. Supporting the ongoing care of patients where this falls within your competence and scope of practice.
