Job summary An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic Nursing Associate to join our School Nursing Team within Milton Keynes. This relatively new post, that will support the current School Nursing Team to deliver the 5-19 element of the Healthy Child Programme. You will have an interest in preventative health with a passion for delivering safe, high-quality care to children and young people within the school, home and clinic setting. Safeguarding children is at forefront of all the work carried out by the team and as a Nursing Associate you will support families as part of the Early Intervention Strategy. The Role of the Nursing Associate is to assist and support the School Nurses (SN's) and Registered Nurses (RN's) in ensuring optimal care is delivered across Milton Keynes. The post holder will be responsible for delivering high quality, family centred compassionate care under the direction of a School Nurse or Registered Nurse, with a focus on promoting public health and safeguarding. You will be an accountable professional and have the ability to work without constant direct supervision; within the parameters of practice by undertaking a range of duties appropriate to the level of responsibility and knowledge and skills acquired Main duties of the job To work within the Nursing Associate parameters of practice to deliver high- quality, compassionate care to children aged 5-19 years, with a focus on promoting health and independence. To work under the delegation of the School Nurse, managing a caseload, delivering planned packages of care. Assist in the delivery of high-quality evidence-based programmes either with individual or groups of parents/carers/children, to improve outcomes for children and young people. Deliver care to families in their homes, community locations and Schools. Assist in the planning and delivery of programmes and activities such as; health needs assessments, continence, obesity/healthy eating, oral health, sleep and school readiness. Support parents and young people with enuresis information, face to face, virtually and in a group setting. Work in partnership with parents/carers, families and multi-disciplinary colleagues to maximise service delivery and to maintain effective relationships and communication. Maintain clinical records in line with record keeping policy. Maintain effective working relationships within the team and with other professionals. Communicate professionally, demonstrating active listening and the ability to ask sensitive and appropriate questions with excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Have an awareness of local safeguarding procedures and appropriately respond to any identified concerns. About us Come and join our School Nursing Service!
