Specialty Doctor in Oral Medicine

Job summary Applications are invited to apply for a 10 PA specialty doctor post in Oral Medicine based on our King's College Hospital NHS Foundation sites: King's College Dental Institute, Denmark Hill. The weekly job plan includes sessions in Oral Medicine outpatients' clinics, facial pain clinics and supervising, dental core trainees and providing specialist advice to other clinical colleagues in other dental disciplines. The Oral Medicine department is situated within King's College Dental Institute and celebrated 100 years of being based at Denmark Hill in 2023. The department is situated on the ground floor in the consultants' clinic which consists of 10 consultation rooms and works closely with the adjacent King's College Medical Hospital. The Oral Medicine team is also based at the Gillies Unit situated on the second floor of the main Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup. Applicants must have a GDC registerable U.K. dental qualification or equivalent and be on the specialist list for oral medicine or be eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. This includes all aspects of clinical treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the department. Responsible for out-patient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed by the clinical lead. Take an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the department's/ Division's Business Plan. This may include assisting with discussions regarding service plans and developments with internal and external agencies. Together with the other members of Oral Medicine Team, to provide a service for all oral medicine patients at Kings. This includes all aspects of clinical treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the department. 2. Responsible also for covering colleagues periods of annual leave and short-term sickness. 3. Clinical supervision of junior medical and dental staff as a shared responsibility with other colleagues. 4. Responsible for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to Continuing Medical Education and clinical governance initiatives. 5. Responsible for out-patient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed by the clinical lead. 6. To contribute to departmental research interests in accordance with the Trusts R&D framework. 7. Contribute to the audit programmes, Morbidity and Mortality, clinical governance programs and learning from Deaths. 8. Take an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the departments/ Divisions Business Plan. This may include assisting with discussions regarding service plans and developments with internal and external agencies. 9. Conduct all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for service(s). 10. Exercise professional leadership for all staff working in the specialty.
