Job summary Band 3 Health Care Support Worker (Part-Time) Part-time role (18.75 hours per week) within a supportive Sexual Health Service. Supports delivery of confidential, inclusive sexual health, STI, HIV and contraception services. Works under the supervision of Registered Nurses and doctors to provide safe, high-quality patient care. Assists patients attending community sexual health clinics and helps maintain an effective clinical environment. Key responsibilities include: Patient care and clinical support Communication with patients, colleagues and partner organisations Health, safety and infection control Service improvement and quality assurance Personal development and training Supporting colleagues and service development Service operates Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm. May be required to work across different service sites to meet operational needs. Main duties of the job o Carry out a range of diagnostic tests, including microscopy and venepuncture.o Ensure all samples collected during patient examinations or procedures are correctly identified, labelled, checked, and processed in accordance with clinic guidelines.o Utilise basic health observation techniques to monitor patients' health status as directed by senior staff, reporting findings appropriately.o Demonstrate confidence in discussing sexual health matters and understanding the needs of sexually active young people.o Maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient attendance and care, recognising that confidentiality continues indefinitely.o Promote and uphold patients' privacy, dignity, rights, and choices in all aspects of care.o Prepare patients for clinical examinations and procedures and assist clinical staff as required, adhering to chaperoning principles and Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT). o Maintain accurate, legible, and timely patient records in accordance with Trust policies.o Work flexibly within the team and across the wider health economy, participating in duty rotas to meet service requirements.o Work collaboratively with patients and the multidisciplinary team to ensure care is timely, coordinated, individualised, and respectful of patients' values and preferences. Supporting the day to day smooth running of a clinic.o Support patients through the delivery of health promotion activities within own competencies.
