Job summary We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Medical Secretary to join our team at Thorpe Park Office. The role will involve typing and management of all clinical letters as well as discharge summaries or other relevant correspondence and documents as required. Ensure all investigation results are readily available to the clinical staff and once signed and acted upon, filed correctly in the medical case notes. Adding patients to waiting lists or discharging as appropriate. E-mailing referrals to appropriate departments. Sending letters out to GPs and patients. Chasing letters which have not been received back from clinicians. To have extensive knowledge of necessary medical terminology. To prioritise workload and ensure that all timelines are met in accordance with SLAs (service level agreements) and (SOPs) standard operating procedures of the business unit. To assist in the development and implementation of SOPs (standard operating procedures) in collaboration with the Medical Secretary Lead and NHS patient services & Operational Manager. Liaise with external referral departments (if appropriate) concerning patient referrals. To action fast track referrals (if appropriate) to ensure timely appointments are made.
