Home of the Innocents is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to support daily nursing operations in an assigned Neighborhood at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center, our pediatric skilled nursing facility. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll supervise and develop direct care staff, provide complex clinical oversight, and partner with the Nurse Manager to drive quality, safety, and a culture of compassionate care for some of Kentucky’s most medically complex children and young adults. A Day in the Life The Assistant Nurse Manager provides clinical oversight and compassionate leadership of daily Neighborhood operations under the direction of the Nurse Manager. You’ll directly supervise RNs, LPNs, SRNAs, and Resident Care Attendants, guiding care delivery, monitoring outcomes, and ensuring every intervention aligns with each resident’s individualized care plan and physician orders. From complex clinical procedures to staff coaching to quality initiatives, this role keeps the Neighborhood running at its highest level. Schedule: Full-time, exempt, on-site, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM. Required 24/7 on-call availability. Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. How This Position Contributes to Our Mission • Provide hands-on clinical oversight of daily Neighborhood operations, ensuring safe, high-quality, resident-centered care aligned with individualized care plans and physician orders • Directly supervise and develop RNs, LPNs, SRNAs, and Resident Care Attendants through guidance, accountability, and ongoing coaching • Manage complex clinical care including comprehensive assessments, medication administration, ostomy management, wound care, central and peripheral line management, enteral nutrition, airway management, and invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support monitoring • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, physicians, and Director of Nursing to keep resident care plans current, person-centered, and responsive to changing needs • Lead quality and safety initiatives; respond promptly to complaints, concerns, and reports of suspected abuse, neglect, or maltreatment per regulatory standards • Support staff education and development, including new hire orientation, competency assessments, and skills validation, in collaboration with the Clinical Education department Skills and Qualifications Required: • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN); unencumbered RN license in Kentucky • Minimum three (3) years of direct care RN experience in acute or long-term care • Minimum one (1) year of nursing management or supervisory experience • Current CPR/BLS certification (provided if needed) • Reliable transportation; 24/7 on-call availability Preferred: • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) • Cardiopulmonary and/or ventilator/tracheostomy care experience • Pediatric and/or long-term care nursing experience • Experience with palliative and end-of-life care • Experience supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills What You’ll Receive as a Valued Member of Home of the Innocents • Comprehensive benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, AD&D, and Life) • Generous leave time to ensure work-life balance • 401(k) with employer match • Training and certification opportunities Who We Are Home of the Innocents is one of Louisville’s longest-serving non-profit organizations, approaching 150 years of service to children and families.
