Job summary We are the Defence Mental Health Services (DMHS) and we are searching for a professional, motivated Psychiatrist to join our encouraging and friendly team at Merville Barracks. Part time hours may be available on a job share basis to meet business demands. You will feel valued as a Consultant Psychiatrist within DPHC, receiving access to outstanding rewards and employee benefits including: An NHS pension An inclusive working environment Professional Registration Fees Re-imbursed Free parking Learning and development opportunities Main duties of the job As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing effective care, with an approach based on recovery and rehabilitation, to Service Personnel (SP) and entitled civilians, with timely access to skilled and effective assessment, treatment and occupational recommendations that meets the needs of the individual and the Chain of Command (CoC). The team expects to receive on average 10 new referrals a week and will see urgent cases by the next working day and routine cases within 15 working days. The consultant psychiatrist is expected to carry a compact caseload of the most complex and unstable cases but will also be available at short notice to provide consultation and advice to other team members. It must be stressed that the caseload contains far lower levels of morbidity and risk than a National Health Service (NHS) general adult population and there is not a high emergency burden.
