Specialist Physiotherapist

Job summary To provide a high-quality physiotherapy service to patients attending the Elderly Assessment Unit (EAU), delivering timely assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and discharge planning for older adults presenting with acute illness, frailty, falls and functional decline. The post holder will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), undertaking specialist assessment and management of patients with complex physical, cognitive and social needs. The role will support patient flow through the frailty pathway by facilitating admission avoidance, same-day emergency care and safe discharge planning. The post holder will supervise junior staff, assistants and students, participate in service development activities and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the service. Main duties of the job This will be a static post and role in elderly care outpatient setting. o To assess, diagnose and treat an independent clinical caseload. o To work as part of the physiotherapy team under the guidance and support of more experienced highly specialist senior physiotherapy staff. o To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
