Job summary Band 2: £25,272 (pay agreement for apprentice radiographers may change to Annex 21/30). Programme Length: 4 years. Work Location: Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham. Hours per week: Full time, 37.5 hours per week. In Diagnostic Imaging we are delighted offer a work-based learning route for individuals wishing to train as a Diagnostic Radiographer, whilst being in full time employment. This role provides the opportunity to remain in employment and gain valuable practical experience whilst studying for a Degree in Radiography. Main duties of the job The Apprentice role is a 3-year fixed term training contract (18 months for the top-up Assistant Practitioner route) and providing you successfully qualify and register with the HCPC you will be appointed to a qualified Band 5 Radiographer role at the end of the contract. Final acceptance into the Apprentice Radiographer post will be dependent on being accepted onto the degree programme by Exeter University (or Derby for top-up AP route) and meeting the apprentice eligibility rules for funding. The start date for the 3 year degree post is March 2027 and January 2027 for the top-up AP route. You must be able to commit to attending all 3 block study sessions per year at the University of Exeter in March, June and October. The 18 month Derby top-up course has no campus attendance. Attend the 3 mandatory block academic attendances per year (up to 5 days at a time) at the selected Higher Education Institute (HEI) . Engage in the mandatory minimum 20% off the job directed and self-directed study, either locally at the apprenticeship placement or at a Trust hub. Engage with the learning, clinical training and portfolio activities, and discussions with named mentors and visiting HEI Assessor. As an employee of Portsmouth Hospitals you will be contracted for full time hours, but a minimum of 20% of your working hours will be for protected off-the-job training (study) with workplace and academic mentors to support your learning. This role is based at Queen Alexandra Hospital, but there is a requirement to travel to other community sites such as Gosport, Petersfield and Fareham Hospitals as part of the role.
