Speech and Language Therapist

Job summary We have an opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team for a fixed period of 12 months. This position is to cover a maternity leave and the successful applicant will assess, diagnose and treat people with communication difficulties in a number of settings including care homes, clinics and patients' own homes. Main duties of the job Conduct formal and informal assessments for adults with acquired communication disorders. Formulate differential diagnoses with support from senior SLTs as required. Provide evidence-based, goal-oriented communication therapy. Consider and provide AAC as appropriate. Work closely with the MDT including carers, GPs and others. Provide training and advice to family members, carers and other healthcare staff. Maintain accurate, timely clinical notes and write clinical reports. Participate in clinical supervision and CPD activities. To participate in research in specialist area as required. To work in close collaboration with other professionals and as part of the MDT to provide an integrated approach to each clients specific difficulties. To provide excellence in clinical care and working to achieve the highest level of patient safety. To continuously develop the service and constantly strive to improve. To act as a source of specialist clinical information/advice for the Trust. To provide appropriate clinical supervision and in-service training for speech and language colleagues, assistants and students.
