Job summary The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Specialty Doctor to join our well-established and supportive Urology team, based at Rotherham Hospital. Our Urology department provides a comprehensive service across the major sub-specialties, including general urology, BPH surgery (Rezum, HoLEP and TURP), female urology, andrology, stone disease (including PCNL), upper tract diagnostics and therapeutics, and both cancer and non-cancer MDT provision. Radical pelvic cancer surgery is managed in partnership with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, while TRFT delivers integrated inpatient and outpatient care and follow-up for prostate and bladder cancer patients. You will join a team of 5 consultants, 2 specialty doctors, and a strong training complement (2 Senior Clinical Fellows, a Core Surgical Trainee and 2 Foundation Trainees), supported by 2 Advanced Nurse Specialists, 4 Cancer Nurse Specialists and a dedicated Andrology Cancer Nurse Specialist. We are looking for a motivated and adaptable clinician with sound general urology knowledge and practical experience across ward-based, outpatient and theatre settings, able to work under consultant supervision while exercising sound clinical judgement. Flexibility to support the wider needs of the department including outpatient clinics, theatre lists, MDT meetings and emergency cover is essential. Main Duties Provide day-to-day care for urology in-patients and outpatient clinics, including ward rounds, post-operative review and one-stop/rapid access clinics, under consultant supervision Participate in the out-of-hours/resident on-call rota alongside medical colleagues Support the supervision and training of junior colleagues, including Foundation and Core Surgical Trainees Engage in audit, clinical governance and continuing professional development Participate in elective and emergency theatre lists, performing and assisting with procedures appropriate to competency and experience About us The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT) is a combined acute and community Trust serving our local population of around 270,000 people.
