Medical Laboratory Assistant

Job summary To assist in the provision of the scientific service commitment of the laboratory in line with Trust objectives and commensurate with grade and responsibilities. To take receipt, check and prepare samples for analysis for the Blood Sciences Department, under the direction of the Reception Supervisor. To provide an efficient confidential and courteous telephone enquiry service to laboratory users, clinicians and patients. To carry out data entry of all patient demographics and test requirements for laboratory specimens. To support day to day operation of Pathology Stores ensuring a timely and efficient delivery of consumables to relevant clinical areas. More detail about the role The post holder will fulfil all tasks and work as part of the Blood Science team. To meet the needs of the service, the post holder may be required to work in other areas as appropriate as directed by the Line Manager. Working Pattern: 22.5 hours per week, Monday, Thursday and Friday. The position will include rotational day weekends, evenings and public holiday work. Flexibility to cover sickness and annual leave is essential.
