Job description

Job summary These roles are for Band 6 Midwives, registered with the NMC, wanting to work in Devon as part of a proactive, supportive, dynamic multi-professional team. We have some permanent posts available in our maternity services in both Exeter and Barnstaple. In Exeter and the surrounding area these posts are placed in our integrated teams ( community caseload and labour care) or unit based team. In North Devon these posts are unit based / community. Due to our locations we have developed our service to meet the needs of our women and birthing people. To provide them with choice of place of delivery we support homebirths, births in a stand alone unit, births in an alongside unit, and births in a labour ward. Midwives can gain experience in different ways of working, leadership styles, and management styles as well as supporting a range of learners working in our area and helping us develop their knowledge and skills. We have specialist midwives working in areas such as safeguarding, complex care, infant feeding, PMA, transformation, birth experiences, vaccinations, screening, safety and quality and education who are happy to share their knowledge, skills and support. More detail about the role The RDUH Trust currently have teams of midwives working in the maternity service covering Exeter ,Barnstaple and the wider community areas in East, Mid, West and North Devon. Between us we have approximately 5,000 births per annum with approximately 3,500 births per annum in the Exeter service and 1,500 in the North Devon service. We have a dynamic team of staff providing care for all birthing people in this varied and vibrant part of the country.
