Job summary Are you passionate about diabetes care in pregnancy? We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Diabetes Specialist Midwife to join our dedicated Diabetes in Pregnancy Team, providing care to women and their families of Sheffield. As a Diabetes Specialist Midwife, you will be a highly visible and approachable member of the team, providing expert support to women, their families and carers, as well as offering guidance and education to maternity staff. The role is Monday to Friday. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established multidisciplinary team alongside obstetricians, diabetes specialist nurses, endocrinologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care for women with diabetes during pregnancy. We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking midwife who is passionate about service improvement and committed to improving outcomes for women and their babies. If you have a passion for caring for and coordinating the care of pregnant women with complex medical needs, and you enjoy working collaboratively within a specialist team, this could be the perfect role for you. Main duties of the job To provide high quality, safe and holistic midwifery care to women and their families whose pregnancy is complicated by diabetes. The post holder will have expert knowledge and skills and be provided with relevant specialist training where required, which they will then use to manage, develop and lead care for pregnant women and new mothers. To provide direct clinical care and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist area. To continually develop midwifery knowledge, competencies and skills relevant to the clinical area. Assist the Band 7 to ensure high standards of quality care are delivered and maintained for women with diabetes. To provide support and deputise for the Band 7 Diabetes Specialist Midwife when required. To mentor student midwives and other learners within the department.To be a source of reference regarding diabetes in pregnancy and health education. To work closely with women and their families to plan and coordinate their care based on individual needs. To provide a link between the maternity service and other services involved in diabetes care.
