This post provides experience across a range of services, including Acute Stroke Rehabilitation, Community Stroke Rehabilitation, Acute Inpatient Services, Community Rehabilitation, Paediatric Occupational Therapy and Mental Health. You will support service users to maximise independence, improve function and achieve their goals through a range of therapeutic interventions. Our teams work across inpatient and community settings, helping to facilitate safe discharge, reduce length of stay, prevent unnecessary admissions and promote health and wellbeing. Main duties of the job Skills for assessing clients and identifying appropriate treatment from a range of options. Manage own caseload assessing, planning, implementing, and reviewing interventions. Prioritising case load according to need and risks identified.. To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with the patient, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals, following discussion with the supervising Occupational Therapist. To undertake Occupational Therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling the patient in areas of self-maintenance, productivity, and leisure. To work with patients to identify Occupational Therapy goals as part of the overall care plan. To engage patients in therapeutic activities to promote independence and well-being. To teach patients with disabilities new techniques to carry out activities of daily living including manual handling. This may involve teaching patients and carers how to use new equipment particularly in relation to health & safety and hygiene. To prescribe appropriate minor adaptations and standard equipment to patients. To undertake home assessments, as appropriate within given guidelines, applying clinical reasoning skills to the risks associated to the safety and independence of the patient at home.
