Job summary Are you a Speech and Language Therapist looking to develop your expertise in Learning Disability Services? We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and well-established Community Learning Disability Team for 12 months. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing specialist assessment and intervention for adults with learning disabilities who may also have autism, mental health needs, communication difficulties and/or dysphagia. You will work alongside a full multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred, evidence-based care and improve outcomes for service users. Main duties of the job You will provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment, intervention and advice for adults with learning disabilities who have communication and/or eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties. As part of a well-established Community Learning Disability Team, you will work closely with Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Psychiatrists and Support Workers to deliver person-centred, evidence-based care that improves outcomes and quality of life for service users. You will manage a varied caseload, developing and implementing communication and dysphagia management plans, providing advice and training to carers and support providers, and supporting individuals to participate as fully as possible in their daily lives and decision-making. The successful candidate will join a supportive network of Speech and Language Therapists, with opportunities to develop specialist skills in communication, dysphagia, leadership, service development, quality improvement and research. Regular clinical supervision, professional practice development meetings and continuing professional development opportunities are integral to the role.
