Specialist Safeguarding Midwife

Job summary The post supports the leadership and operational delivery of safeguarding in midwifery across the Trust within a clinical governance framework throughout the Trust. The post holder will work closely with the Lead Safeguarding Midwife (and deputise in their absence) to lead the development of Think Family practice across the Trust. The post holder will provide a crucial link between maternity staff, services and the corporate safeguarding team and external agencies e.g. Police and Social Care and act as a safeguarding role model to staff by the delivery of high quality advice and support. The post holder will ensure links with a variety of outside agencies and attend multi agency meetings internal and external to the Trust. Main duties of the job Provide safe and effective care to pregnant women during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum period Provide proactive and effective Leadership Expert Practitioner Work in partnership with women and their families Work collaboratively as a member of the Multidisciplinary team Highly developed communication skills in challenging situations in which there may be barriers to communication and changing circumstances Provides specialist midwifery care for a specific group of women Advises and provides specialist support to midwives in related clinical areas Shares specialist knowledge with other professional group and agencies About us London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) cares for the people of Brent, Ealing, Harrow and beyond.
