Job summary Specialty Doctor in Sexual Health (fixed term 12 months) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Specialty Doctor to join Sexual Health Hertfordshire, an integrated sexual and reproductive health service provided by Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust. Based at Hatfield Sexual Health Centre, you will work within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team delivering comprehensive sexual health care across Hertfordshire, including management of sexually transmitted infections, HIV prevention (PrEP), contraception and Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC). The successful candidate will lead young person-prioritised, complex GUM and LARC clinics, provide senior clinical support to nursing and medical colleagues, and contribute to the ongoing development of innovative and patient-centred sexual health services. This fixed-term post offers an excellent opportunity to develop leadership, educational and service development skills within a large, integrated sexual health service. Alongside clinical duties, you will act as Clinical Supervisor for a GPST1 trainee, participate in teaching, audit, quality improvement and research activities, and help shape the future direction of sexual health services across Hertfordshire. We anticipate recruiting to a substantive role with enhanced leadership responsibilities at the conclusion of this fixed-term appointment. Main duties of the job The post-holder will be responsible for investigating, diagnosing and treating sexually transmitted infections and all aspects of sexual and reproductive health, providing senior cover for GUM/SRH clinics to members of the non-medical and junior medical teams. They will be expected to provide specialist GUM clinics and LARC and assist in the development of new and existing clinical services. In addition, they will also be responsible for checking and acting on laboratory results. The post-holder will be encouraged take up further training to gain competencies to be able to provide senior cover for GUM clinics to members of the non-medical and junior medical teams. The post-holder will be responsible for arranging appropriate onward internal and external patient referrals. The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to non-clinical duties (e.g. GPST1 programme co-ordination/supervision and managerial responsibilities) as delegated. The doctor shall contribute to the development of the multidisciplinary team by offering support, education and teaching/training where required. Applicants must hold full GMC registration, DipGUM, LoC IUT and LoC SDI qualifications, with significant experience working independently in sexual health services. There is no on-call commitment, and dedicated SPA time is included to support professional development, clinical governance and educational responsibilities.
