Paramedic - REACT

Job summary Are you an experienced HCPC-registered Paramedic looking to develop your clinical skills ? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the REACT (Reactive Emergency Assessment Community Team) service within East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT). Working within our Urgent Community Response (UCR) pathway, you will play a vital role in providing rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision-making for patients experiencing an acute deterioration in their own homes. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support people to remain safely at home wherever possible, preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and delivering care closer to home. This is an exciting alternative to traditional ambulance practice, providing opportunities to manage complex patients, develop advanced assessment skills and work alongside therapists, nurses, advanced practitioners, social care professionals, consultants and GPs across the health and care system. The post is available for up to 37.5 hours per week as part of a 7-day service operating across weekdays, weekends and bank holidays. Proposed Interview date: 15th October 2026 Main duties of the job Undertake comprehensive holistic assessments of patients presenting with acute illness, frailty, injury or deterioration within their own homes and community settings. Use advanced clinical reasoning and autonomous decision-making skills to assess, diagnose, treat, refer or safely discharge patients. Deliver urgent care interventions in line with the national 2-hour Urgent Community Response standard. Work collaboratively with Virtual Ward, Frailty, Community Nursing, Therapy, General Practice, Social Care and Ambulance Service colleagues to ensure seamless patient care. Support admission avoidance and facilitate safe alternatives to hospital attendance wherever clinically appropriate. Provide expert clinical advice and support to colleagues across the multidisciplinary team. Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, audit and clinical governance activities. Support education, supervision and development of junior staff and students.
