Job summary A 6.5 PA Consultant opportunity has arisen to join our team at Ipswich Hospital in the Child Health CDG. We are inviting applications for a Consultant in Acute Paediatrics with any specialist interest welcome. Applicants will have completed CCT or equivalent (Portfolio Pathway) and must be on the Specialist Register or due to have completed with 6 months. Main duties of the job All consultants in the department have a continuing and individual responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and a general responsibility to provide, in conjunction with their colleagues, an effective Service to meet the needs of the local population, within the resources available. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the Consultant of the week rota according to departmental requirements currently on a 1:12 basis. There is usually one Consultant on call, covering general paediatrics in the morning and general paediatrics and neonates in the afternoon and an additional consultant on call for neonates in the morning.The successful candidate will be expected to participate in weekend and night on call cover. The successful candidate will be expected to share outpatient responsibilities with a minimum of 3 paediatric clinics a week, depending on other commitments. Further discussion re exact composition of the role can be clarified and discussed with the Clinical Lead prior to application and will be reviewed in line with the prior experience of the appointee.
