Job summary Student Health Visitor - Commencing Jan 2027 Student Health Visitors positions x 1 full time (37.5 hours / week over 1 year), we may consider a part-time offer (18.5 hours/week over 2 years) Commencing January 2027 with Oxford Brooks University. The Student Health Visitor course is delivered online and includes a clinical, in person placement for the duration of the course. The combined course and placement takes place 50% online from home, and 50% in person in the community. Please note that your clinical placement base can be anywhere in West Sussex and Brighton and Hove, however, we do take into consideration where you live and any caring responsibilities . Health Visitors lead the Healthy Child Programme (0-5) inBrighton and Hove and West Sussex. Are you an NMC registered nurse (child, adult, mental health or learning disability) or an NMC registered midwife interested in a career in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing - Health Visiting? Health Visitors work with children aged between 0 and 5 to provide key public health messages to all families; to identify and assess health or development needs and then offer targeted support where it is most needed, with the aim that every child has the best possible start to life. Health Visitors have contact with families in homes, community venues and virtually from the antenatal period up to school entry. Main duties of the job Main duties of the job As a student, and an adult learner you are required to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, resilient and dedicated to the role. You will have a passion for public health and improving outcomes for children in West Sussex and Brighton & Hove through progressive universalism and early intervention. We are looking for a solution-focused nurse or midwife that is able to demonstrate an understanding of holistic assessment, and the wider determinants of health and capacity building. You will need to have excellent communication skills and some experience of working collaboratively with other agencies.
