Position Summary: Assess, diagnose and treat patients. Duties include obtaining patient's health history, performing physical exam, prescribing laboratory tests and medication, providing patient and family education and providing technical expertise to other nurses. Incumbents in this class work independently under the general direction of a physician pursuant to state statute. Examples of duties Education/Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and two (2) years of related clinical nursing experience. Licensing/Certification Requirements: Valid State of Nevada License to Practice as a Registered Nurse, and State of Nevada License to Practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse, and State of Nevada Pharmacy Board License to Prescribe Medications, and DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA). Qualifications Minimum 2 years of urgent care experience as Family Nurse Practitioner Able to see all age groups Able to perform common urgent care procedures. Skill in: Diagnosing patient conditions and interpreting findings from examination and diagnostic tests; performing complete physical examinations; taking medical histories; writing information in patient chart; oral communication with patient to obtain information and convey health information; communicating effectively with a wide variety of patients from a diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; using a variety of diagnostic tools, depending upon area of specialization; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read instruments, printed materials and a VDT screen, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
