The role is based inside the prison with exciting opportunities to learn and broaden your knowledge of the justice system and how prisoners are able to access services. You you will be working within a small administration team but alongside a much wider primary care team and security staff as well as building relationships with staff at local hospitals. Main duties of the job You will be working within a small but strong administration team and also alongside a much wider primary care team and even larger security team. You will be responsible for booking external hospital appointments on behalf of patients, which involves developing strong relationships with staff at local hospitals. Often, appointments have to be re-arranged at short notice, so a high degree of flexibility and patience isa must. You will also be responsible for supporting the GPs with referrals to hospital and actioning electronic tasks in relation to patient care. You will also see prisoners on a daily basis as they visit the healthcare department for all their different primary care appointments. Due to the fact that prisoners are unable to make contact with local hospitals themselves, you will need to be demonstrate determination and compassion in securing access to care on their behalf, whilst being mindful of prison protocol and security risks.
