Job summary The post holder will be a very senior state registered Clinical Scientist with FRCPath working with autonomy, taking full clinical, leadership and managerial responsibility for the Cancer Genomics Section at an all Wales level The post holder will also deputise for the Laboratory Director in conjunction with other colleagues. Main duties of the job The AWMGS is hosted by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) and reports directly into the Executive team via the Executive Director of Allied Health Professionals and Healthcare Scientists. The AWMGS provides comprehensive clinical and laboratory services to the population of Wales. The AWMGS laboratory service delivers cancer services, inherited services including rare disease, pharmacogenomic and neuropsychiatric services and provides population health testing services commissioned in Wales.The Cancer Genomics section delivers a range of solid tumour, haematological malignancy, circulating tumour DNA and germline cancer services. The post holder will be a very senior state registered clinical scientist with FRCPath working with autonomy, taking full clinical, leadership and managerial responsibility for the Cancer Genomics section at an all Wales level . The post holder will use their specialist knowledge of cancer genomic services to lead on strategic developments for the clinical section, at both a Welsh and UK/International level. The post holder will have responsibility for policy implementation, service developments and implementation of new services. The post holder will be required to build credible and effective working relationships with all service users. In the absence of the Laboratory Director, the post holder will deputise and take responsibility for the laboratory. The post holder will provide strong leadership to the Laboratory Management Team.
