Phlebotomist - Bodnant Surgery

Job summary Bodnant Medical Centre is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our friendly primary care team. The successful applicant will provide a high-quality, professional and patient-centred phlebotomy service to our registered patients. Main duties of the job Undertake venepuncture safely and effectively for adults and, where appropriate, children. Confirm patient identity and ensure appropriate consent is obtained before procedures. Correctly label and handle blood samples in accordance with practice and laboratory procedures. Prepare samples appropriately for transportation to the laboratory. Maintain accurate and timely patient records. Recognise and respond appropriately to patients who become unwell during or following venepuncture. Maintain infection prevention and control standards at all times. Ensure clinical equipment and the phlebotomy area are clean, safe and appropriately maintained. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with practice policies and relevant legislation. Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, relatives and members of the wider healthcare team. Report any clinical concerns, incidents, equipment issues or difficulties with venepuncture to the appropriate member of staff. Work within the limits of your competence and undertake appropriate training and development. About us Bodnant is a busy Practice based in upper Bangor close to the university. We have around 11,000 patients with 9 GP's, 3 nurses, 1 ANP and 2 HCA.
