Job summary A fantastic opportunity has arisen following internal promotion of two staff, to work at the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. We provide high quality rehabilitation for patients from across the South East region of England and half of London taking patients from major trauma centres. As part of a team of 12 qualified OTs and 3 assistants you will get a chance to practice your OT skills in a wide range of areas including both one to one and group sessions. OTs are integral to the multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive rehabilitation to patients with spinal cord injury, whether they are children or adults, are ventilator dependent, wheelchair users or ambulant. Often patients have a complex presentation and you will get a chance to use a wide range of skills including posture and seating, powered mobility, hand therapy and splinting, upper limb restorative therapy, vocational and leisure activities as well as activities of daily living and environmental assessments. If this sounds like the job of your dreams please get in contact. Main duties of the job Carry a caseload of patients with spinal cord injury both paraplegic and tetraplegic. Assess, plan and carry out treatment and evaluate outcomes. Treatment sessions may take place on the ward, in OT, or in the community. Patients attend both 1:1 sessions and group treatment. Rehabilitation of spinal cord injury individuals is provided through multi-disciplinary working and OTs are an integral part of the team taking on keyworker roles for patient goal planning.
