Job description

Job summary To provide clinical and team management of professional Dental Nursing staff and support delivery of clinical services within the Dental Service. This post is based in Aylesbury with regular travel across Dental sites including Amersham, high Wycombe and Milton Keynes. The postholder will line manage nurses in the Out of hours (OOH) service and therefore will need to complete management and clinical supervision during the OOH hours. this will mean adjusting the working day at times to accommodate this. The postholder will be responsible for the line management of the Dental Nurses and Patient Administration Manager assisting when required with the supervision of the reception staff. The successful candidate will be required to carry out regular dental nursing duties working with patients who may have a range of additional needs. Depending on qualifications and experience, they may work within specialist area's e.g. sedation, general anaesthetics, domiciliary or secure unit environment. Working with other Dental Nurse Managers in the service to provide cover across the service. The post holder must have a full GDC registration, management qualification (or equivalent experience) and at least one post qualification such as radiography, special care or IV sedation. Main duties of the job To provide a comprehensive clinical leadership relating to service delivery including management of HR issues and performance, To provide professional leadership and oversight of practice to the Dental Nurse team, provide supervision and develop clinical skills within the dental nursing team. To support maintenance of high standards of dental nursing within the dental service, including decontamination, cross infection control, clinical audit and other governance processes related to dental nursing. To liase with the Dental Senior Leadership Team to ensure that staffing and governance processes reflect the needs of staff and the service. To deputise as required for the Dental Operational Manager To cross cover for other Dental Nurse Managers during periods of absence The post holder is required to work at a level of autonomy that may require making decisions related to the organisation of resources and service provision e.g. monitoring resources, stock and skill mix, providing reports etc in order that senior management may arrive at informed decisions.
