Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist

Position Highlights The Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist assists the laboratory staff by performing venipunctures, fingersticks, heelsticks, collection of swabs, instrument maintenance, filing, charging, and other tasks as needed and assigned. REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification; or Phlebotomy Technician training completion from a state endorsed, program accredited college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred but not required. Suitable candidate will be trained by laboratory staff in phlebotomy, specimen collection, and laboratory practices. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Annual influenza vaccinations are mandatory for all employees by December 1, unless a medical waiver is signed and approved. Completion of the Child Abuse & Dependent Adult Abuse courses for Iowa Mandatory Reporters within 90 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter.
