Job summary Invicta Health has a vacancy for a GP Consultant at St James Surgery. St James Surgery is based in the seaside town of Dover, famous for its white cliffs and its strategic gateway to Europe. They are situated a short stones throw away from the beach and close to the historic Dover Castle. They are a thriving practice, supported by their patient population of circa 9000. St James Surgery is warm and friendly with a robust multi-disciplinary team, which includes Nurse Practitioners and a Clinical Pharmacist. The multi disciplinary team is supported by an experienced administration team who handle referrals, prescriptions, reports and other general tasks. St James is one of seven GP practices that sit under Invicta Health. We are a well known community interest company, devoted to supporting and improving primary care in the Kent area. Main duties of the job The role involves working collaboratively with GP Consultant colleagues, the Invicta Health leadership team, and practice staff to ensure the highest possible standards of patient care. The postholder will provide clinical oversight, leadership, and direction for the site, with a particular focus on supporting and developing the GP and Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) workforce. This role requires a visible on-site clinical leadership presence, ensuring accessibility to all staff for advice, guidance, and decision-making to support the safe and effective operation of the practice. The postholder will also work in partnership with wider health and social care providers to deliver safe, integrated, and patient-centred services. In addition, the role includes active engagement in local and national initiatives to support the development of sustainable, high-quality healthcare provision. Be a visible and accessible clinical leader on-site, offering advice, guidance, and support to all staff groups. Demonstrate adaptability and strong leadership in responding to operational pressures, risks, and unforeseen challenges. Work alongside the site management team to resolve operational issues and implement practical, patient-focused solutions. Actively contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives across the practice. Promote and embed best practice across clinical teams to improve patient outcomes and service efficiency. Clinical Governance & Quality Work collaboratively with senior management to maintain robust clinical governance systems. Lead on GP and ACP-related incidents, complaints, and significant event analysis. Ensure high standards of clinical care through monitoring, audit, and peer review processes. Lead and support: Clinical audits Development and implementation of clinical protocols Maintenance of safe and effective clinical policies and procedures High standards of clinical record keeping and documentation Provide clinical oversight and support for safeguarding processes at site level. Workforce Leadership & Management Provide line management and clinical leadership to salaried GPs and ACPs/ANPs, including: One-to-one meetings Probation reviews Annual appraisals Sickness and performance management Support HR and Quality teams in managing performance or conduct concerns, including involvement in formal processes where required.
